Museum History

The Crater Rock Museum was founded in 1954 by Frieda and Delmar Smith. The Smith collection and the collections and donations of members and others has created one of the finest displays of rocks, minerals, and gems on the west coast.

We are currently in the final stages of a huge construction project to expand the size of the museum so we can have more room for displays, classes, educational programs, and gift shop treasures. The museum will remain open during construction so come on down and take a look around!
