Volunteer at the club and museum!
The Roxy Ann Gem and Mineral Society and the Crater Rock Museum are always looking for help! Here is a partial list of areas where we need help:
Museum Docent Coordinator & Tour Leaders
Our mission is to educate the young and old by conducting tours, teaching classes, etc. So, many schools and organizations come to the museum on a regular basis for a tour of the facilities. Our Lead Tour Guide has retired, and we need someone who will arrange for volunteers to conduct tours, train them for these tours, and to also conduct tours themselves. The Museum Coordinator is a most valued person, important to helping us fulfill our mission - to educate. Whomever volunteers to be the Coordinator, and those of you who volunteer to conduct tours, you'll find it rewarding and fun! All we need is a few hours a month, come join us!

Gem & Mineral Show
Tricia Caulkins, show chairperson, and her co-chair, Jason Bazen need volunteers to help with the April Gem & Mineral show. Help is needed to set-up and tear-down, Wheel-of-Fortune, cotton fabric to make grab bag sacks, silent auction items, security, etc. etc. The list goes on. Please call to see how you can help. AND, volunteers get a free lunch!

Wheel of Fortune - Prizes for the Gem & Mineral Show
Volunteers are needed to make small items like pipe cleaner spiders with tumbled rocks for the Wheel of Fortune. All ideas or suggestions are welcome.

Raffle Donations for the Gem & Mineral Show
Each year, as part of our gem show, we have a raffle. Now is your chance to shine and to create that "special something" we can use in our raffle. Or perhaps you already have a polished rock, or an unusual specimen, jewelry? bolo tie? Whatever you donate for use as a raffle gift, we'll be very grateful. And, of course, whomever wins your donation will know you donated it! If you are a self-employed business person, that type of exposure can only help, yes? So, please donate an item we can use in our raffle. Thanks in advance for your help!

Gift Shop Volunteers
Those of you who have been following our progress know we recently expanded our facilities to over 12,000 square feet! This expansion has included a remodeled, larger gift shop! Now we need help more than ever. We need volunteers to help with retail sales, inventory, displays, etc. Our gift shop Manager, Terrie Cosby, said that, ideally, we should have two people in the gift shop at all times. It's lots of fun, and we'll train you! If you can help, please contact us.

Rock Chipper Newsletter - Folders, Tabbers, & Labelers
If you only have an hour or two a month you can volunteer, how about helping prepare the Chipper for mailing? This generally takes place mid-week, during the day. Many hands makes for light work, so the more people volunteering, the faster we get done!

Kids Day at the Museum!
In keeping with our mission to educate, we've developed a free educational series designed specifically for children, the first of which is being held Saturday, February 11, 10am to 3pm, and continuing the second Saturday of each month. February's theme is crystals. Children will learn about crystals from Charles Rogers, RCC Geology Instructor, and, to celebrate Valentines day, they'll be able to create a special Valentine's day gift to take home! Naturally, we'll need volunteers to help with this event. Will you lend your culinary skills and make some refreshments for us to serve? We could also use additional help in the gift shop, volunteers to help throughout the museum, and perhaps volunteers to answer questions from children and adults.
